Social Work—MSW

The Master of Social Work prepares students for generalist social work practice in a variety of settings with multiple population groups. Though not required, students may choose to specialize in marriage and family, mental health, school social work, international social work, social work and child welfare, human services management or Christian ministry.

PROGRAM LENGTH

  • 33 credits for students with a BSW and a 3.0 undergraduate GPA. Can typically be completed by full-time students in one year.
  • 56 credits for students with a bachelor’s degree in another discipline. Can typically be completed by full-time students in two years.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

Prospective students must submit their applications by the dates listed below.

  • Fall (August–December): July 30
  • Spring (January–May): November 15
  • Summer Session (May–August): April 1

POINTS OF DISTINCTION

  • Fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Integration of social work practice and Christian faith.
  • Professors whose teaching is grounded in practice.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelors degree (or non-U.S. equivalent) from an accredited institution and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 for the two-year regular standing, and 3.0 for one-year advanced standing program (applicants with lower GPA may be admitted upon consideration of the composite profile).
  • Two Recommendations from professionals such as advisors, major professors and employers.
  • Resume describing employment, research or special projects.
  • Essay or Statement of Purpose reflecting your philosophical perspective, personal, professional and academic goals, and reasons for seeking the graduate program.
  • TOEFL, IELTS or PTE (academic): Students whose language of education is not English must submit English proficiency test scores.
